Frequently Asked Questions
How the Site Works
How do I find the paintings available on the site?
The paintings are on the page Original Works Shop (click here).
In general, the paintings are grouped into series that share the same formal and conceptual language.
Each series is grouped separately, and the paintings available for sale are listed in the Shop.
Clicking on the thumbnail of a painting takes you to that painting's detail page.
There you will find the technical details of the work as well as other notes. (for example: Mini Tiro – Berlinde 1)
The purchase option appears on the page mentioned in the previous paragraph.
What happens when I buy a work?
When you add a painting to the cart, you will be taken to the cart page.
From there you can proceed to checkout, where you will be asked for your details and payment.
After paying, you will receive an automatic confirmation email with the details of the work you purchased, stating that the order is awaiting payment confirmation.
As soon as the payment is confirmed, you will receive a second email with the order confirmation, the invoice, the tracking number and the estimated delivery time for your order.
This step may take up to 4 working days, depending on the payment method chosen (MB WAY or Debit/Credit Card).
The artwork will be shipped to the address you provided in the form.
If I add a painting to the cart, do I have to complete the purchase?
No, you can always remove paintings you have added from the “cart” page.
How can I remove items from the cart?
Items will remain in your cart until you remove them or complete the purchase. To remove items you do not wish to buy, simply follow these steps:
1 – Click the Cart icon in the menu to view your Cart;
2 – Click the X next to the work you wish to remove.
Security, Payments and Privacy
Is the site secure?
Yes, the site is protected by an SSL security certificate issued by Let’s Encrypt.
We are committed to keeping this certificate up to date, as well as all other software needed for the site to work properly.
You can find more information about the SSL certificate on the Let’s Encrypt website.
Are there advantages to paying online?
Yes, for both your security and mine.
When you pay through the site, you are automatically protected by the banking security services that record the successful transfer, as well as by the payment provider.
MB WAY is the payment method managed by the IfThenPay platform, which guarantees the security of the payment process. https://ifthenpay.com/
Stripe, which handles Debit/Credit Card payments, is a platform specialising in online payments and guarantees full security in both the payment and refund processes. https://stripe.com/en-pt/about
On top of this, the carrier's insurance protects the work during shipping, https://www.ctt.pt
Is paying through the site safe?
Yes, because payments are made through a window provided by the payment service provider.
For example, if you pay by card, your details are entered in Stripe's own secure form, so all of Stripe's security guarantees apply.
I am having trouble with the payment, what should I do?
If you have trouble making the payment, you can contact me by email so that I can help you.
However, I suggest you first read the following paragraphs about problems with MB WAY or Debit/Credit Cards.
Problems with Debit/Credit Cards
If your credit card is being declined at checkout, try our troubleshooting suggestions below.
If you still have problems, we recommend contacting your bank or card issuer for assistance.
Double-check the information entered at checkout:
Has your billing address changed recently?
Did you enter the correct CVV code?
Have you received a new card with a new expiry date?
What happens to the data I provide?
Your data will be stored in Alexandre Coxo's database and is used to process the order, for after-sales communication and for invoicing.
In other words, we will only use it for the tasks needed to ship the artwork to your home.
We promise not to bother you with advertising or unwanted mailings.
During checkout, as well as through the dedicated fields on the site, you can join the Newsletter to receive news, curiosities and updates on Alexandre Coxo's work.
You can read more about this on our Privacy Policy page.
Shipping – Packaging, Carrier and Cost
How will my order be shipped?
The item will be shipped in a corrugated cardboard box, wrapped inside in paper, protective foam and cardboard/MDF.
This way your artwork is protected for a safe journey from the studio to your home.
The carrier is CTT (Portuguese Post) and the tracking information will be sent to you in the confirmation email.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is free within Portugal. For other destinations a fixed fee applies, depending on the size of the piece.
For works up to 30 cm (longest side), shipping costs €20. Between 31 cm and 80 cm, shipping costs €50. For pieces larger than 81 cm, shipping costs €100.
For countries outside the European Union, orders are shipped CIP (Carriage and Insurance Paid); customs formalities and any duties or taxes (if applicable) are the buyer's responsibility.
How can I track my artwork?
Artworks are shipped with CTT (Portuguese Post).
For the most up-to-date tracking information, we recommend visiting the CTT website with the tracking number sent to you in the confirmation email.
Copy the tracking number from the email and enter it on the CTT website to get the latest tracking information.
Visit www.ctt.pt.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Depending on where you are, your order may take between 9 and 28 working days.
For Portugal, it will take between 9 and 23 working days, depending on the size of the order.
In Europe, add 3 working days, i.e. up to 26 working days.
For the rest of the world, add 5 working days, i.e. up to 28 working days.
Common Reasons for Delivery Delays
If you live in an area affected by severe weather, natural disasters or any other major unforeseen events, your order may arrive late.
Please allow an additional 2 to 3 working days beyond the estimated delivery date.
In addition, in some countries customs clearance can take up to 30 days.
Please check your government's international shipping policies for more detailed information.
Will my artwork arrive ready to hang?
Depending on the artwork, it may arrive ready to hang.
In general, works on canvas are ready to hang as they are.
Some works already include a frame; this is stated in the work's technical details.
Drawings and reproductions are shipped rolled, so they are not ready to hang.
Authenticity
Will the artwork be signed by the artist?
When the signature is not visible in the image of an artwork, it will be on the back or the side of the piece.
In addition to the signature, works come with a printed certificate of authenticity attached to the back. Some works are also marked with a branded stamp.
Cancellations and Returns
Can I cancel an order before it ships?
Yes, you can.
Please note that all buyers have the right to cancel their order at any time before it ships. We recommend letting the shipment arrive so that you can see the work in person before making a final decision about keeping it.
However, if you are sure you do not want the artwork, please contact info@alexandrecoxo.com immediately with your order details and your intention to cancel.
We are committed to your satisfaction. That is why, after you receive an original artwork, we are available to help and advise you on how to display it.
Even so, you will have seven days to decide whether to keep the artwork or return it for a refund. Shipping and customs costs may be at your expense. This is decided case by case, so prompt communication between us is important.
How do I return an artwork? (undamaged work)
Step 1 – Within seven days of delivery, send an email to info@alexandrecoxo.com with your details and the reason you wish to return the work.
Step 2 – Repack the artwork using the original packaging. If you have already discarded it, you will be responsible for buying packaging materials to send the artwork back safely.
Step 3 – Follow the reply to your email to complete the return. Once the piece arrives safely, you will be refunded (minus shipping costs and international customs fees).
Depending on the case, currency conversion or bank fees may apply. Refunds are usually made using the same payment method; if any change is needed, it will be discussed and agreed with you by email.
What if the artwork arrives damaged?
Step 1 – Within seven days of delivery, send an email to info@alexandrecoxo.com to let us know what happened.
Step 2 – Keep the original packaging!
Step 3 – Take photos of the damaged artwork and packaging and send them to info@alexandrecoxo.com. Step 4 – We will review the information and get back to you shortly to discuss what to do.
Who pays for return shipping?
We review every return case by case to determine who is responsible for all costs (shipping and customs) involved in returning the artwork.
If the work is returned because the buyer decided to cancel the purchase, undamaged and following the communication process described above, the buyer is responsible for the return costs.
If we conclude that the artist misrepresented the work (in the photographs or the description), failed to disclose important information about it, or that the artwork was damaged due to poor packaging or transport, the buyer will not be responsible for the shipping costs.
